Student Loan Television : How to Boost Podsafe Musicians Earnings by Five Percent in the iTunes Music Store

22 January 2007 1 views One Comment

I love podsafe music and support podsafe musicians in their efforts to promote their music outside of the recording industry’s attempts at lock-in. I created this video to help musicians understand how to get the most out of the music they’re already selling in iTunes.

Video editions:
+ iPod version
+ DVD-quality version

Updated: Dave asked, “Is this legal? Can you do this?” According to the terms of the affiliate program at Apple.com, the answer is yes! Apple specifically forbids:

  • Infringe trademark rights of yours or any third party or otherwise violate the rights of any third party
  • Contain sexually explicit materials
  • Contain hate/violent/offensive content
  • Promote discrimination based on race, sex, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation, or age
  • Promote illegal activities or otherwise violate any applicable laws, including those targeting “spyware,” “adware” or SPAM
  • Violate any intellectual property rights, including, without limitation, scraping text or images from Apple’s Websites
  • Do not clearly state an online privacy policy to its visitors
  • Otherwise are considered offensive or inappropriate at Apple’s sole discretion

Everything else, as far as I can tell, is fair game.

As always Chris, you are one clever dude! It’s funny ‘cus I actually looked at the iTunes affiliate program recently for another reason, but hadn’t made the connection that bands could do this on their sites… duh! :-P

I’m going to repost this on the OMM blog, and get on redoing my iTunes links as affiliate links.

    Cheers,
