WinAmpCast Beta 1 released!

14 February 2007 1 views No Comment

WinAmp is one of the most popular MP3 audio players available for the PC. Prior to iTunes, it was the #1 MP3 software, period. However, its podcasting support is lackluster at best. It does, however, read m3u files and stream audio really well.

This software creates an m3u streaming audio file out of your podcast’s RSS feed, making one click subscribe for WinAmp users a reality.

WinAmpCast is licensed under the Creative Commons licensing organization, Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 2.5 License. It is free, but you must place a link on your site as follows:

<a href=”http://www.FinancialAidPodcast.com”>WinAmpCast by the Financial Aid Podcast</a>

WinAmpCast requires PHP support and SimplePie.

One final note that I didn’t mention – you must visit your show’s WinAmpCast URL after every update to your RSS feed. The easiest way to automate this is to just put a link to it on your web site at the bottom of the page somewhere. When search engines index your page, they’ll run the script.
