Daily Aid 133: Swine flu, 2010 Anita Borg Scholarship
Student Financial Aid News
Swine flu, also known as H1N1, is running rampant everywhere it seems, including here at Edvisors Online Education. Inside Higher Ed has more details:
Colleges have seen a surge in the rates at which students are being diagnosed with H1N1 or similar flu illnesses, according to new data from the American College Health Association. The association has been using a national sample of 270 colleges and universities to track the spread of H1N1, and, in the last week, the rate of cases increased by 34 percent. In addition, several regions where H1N1 had appeared to be in decline — the Northeast, Southeast, Mid-Atlantic and the Midwest — saw increases. Of the colleges in the survey, 97 percent reported new cases. Details on the latest data are available here.

Achoo!
In all seriousness, please make sure to follow basic good hygiene practices. Wash your hands frequently (did you know water temperature doesn’t matter?), use alcohol-based sanitizers, and if you’re sick, for the good of everyone, stay home.
From NASFAA:
“The Public Service Loan Forgiveness program is one of the most significant breakthroughs for public interest lawyers in a generation, according to the organization Equal Justice Works, which strives to ensure a steady stream of attorneys into public service jobs,” San Jose Business Journal reports. “The program that began July 1, established by the College Cost Reduction & Access Act, offers a lower repayment schedule and loan forgiveness on the balance after 10 years of loan repayment and qualifying public service employment, the group said. In addition to law graduates, the program is open to other crucial public-interest professionals such as police officers, those in certain medical jobs and teachers. For purposes of the act, public service includes jobs with most government agencies, most public and private schools, and most 501(c)(3) nonprofits.”
