Net Price Calculator Not Applicable to Grad/Professional Schools

4 November 2009 26 views No Comment

NASFAA has received informal guidance from the Department of Education that requirements in the Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2008 (HEOA) that schools develop a net price calculator are not applicable to graduate and professional schools. The HEOA requires a calculator to be developed in a manner that enables current and prospective students, families, and consumers to determine an estimate of a student’s individual net price at a particular institution. While the legislation makes no explicit exceptions for graduate or professional schools, the process for determining net price focuses solely on first-time, full-time students, which would not be applicable to graduate students and schools.
