Community colleges are seeing huge unprecedented enrollment numbers because of families’ financial situations
It is important for fin aid professionals to educate parents and help them understand why they may not qualify for aid
Personal outreach and a phone call one of the best ways to start a financial aid appeal, esp. for parents.
Financial aid administrators using Zillow to help determine actual need of families in tough times. Interesting.
Secret financial aid codephrase: temporary hardship award. One-time short term financial aid appeal award.
Prepare for all federal student loans to be disbursed only through the Dept. of Education by July 2010.
Upcoming FAFSA filing will let you import data directly from the IRS
Interesting: financial aid verification (audits) costs MORE than the financial aid programs they support.
New IRS data import will not be available until July 2010.
