Customer Service / Administrative / Jack (or Jill) of All Trades

Job position: Customer Service Pro
Company: The Student Loan Network
Availability: Immediate
Compensation: Market competitive, commensurate with experience and demonstrated portfolio of excellence
Reports To: Director of Customer Service

Our customer service representatives are the voices and faces of our company, so we're looking for hard-working, competent, self-motivated, insanely-smart professionals with outstanding levels of patience and tolerance. You'll be answering questions about student loans, financial aid, and more, as well as stuffing envelopes and folders, preparing mailings, and keying in data. You'll get to understand and relate to the best and worst of humanity when it comes to financial aid, and you're so damn good with people that you could talk Osama bin Laden out of jihad and into a private student loan.

Why You Should, If Qualified, Apply for this Job:

  • Because you want to challenge yourself with new projects, new opportunities to learn, new problems to solve.
  • Because the pay's not bad and the benefits are good.
  • Because we're a politically incorrect, fast moving, competitive, and incredibly fun workplace - we work hard and play hard
  • Because we roast, grind, and brew our own coffee on premises, and it's damn good.
  • Because you want to learn the secrets of an Internet marketing company founded pre-boom that's still in business 8 years later and not broke

Compensation, Benefits, Things for You

  • We start at $8 - $20/hour plus full health coverage and more money if your work warrants bonuses and incentives. We also have free parking and are two blocks away from the Quincy Center T station on the Red Line. We have nice offices filled with fun and friendly (if politically incorrect) people, business casual attire, and a great atmosphere.
  • Free full healthcare coverage
  • Free parking
  • Free high-quality coffee
  • Free soda and juice
  • Business casual work environment
  • Really interesting, extremely challenging work - you'll never stare at a wall in boredom again
  • Interesting coworkers
  • Occasional lightsaber battles and other office silliness

What Makes You Qualified (aka Things for Us)

  • You're so good with people that you could talk Osama bin Laden out of jihad and into a private student loan. (bonus if you know why that's really hard in Muslim culture)
  • You're so motivated that you strangely show up for work much earlier than you have to and wonder why everyone quits so early at 7 PM.
  • Top notch abilities to read, write, speak, and listen in American English. British English OK, too.
  • A basic working knowledge of statistics and mathematics.
  • Highly computer literate, especially in Excel, business web use, email, and customer communications. Google is your friend.
  • Extremely strong memory, especially for numbers and names - you're shown something once and you remember it forever.
  • Eligible to work in the US for any employer with no sponsorship needed, because we can't provide any.
  • Able to pass a background check with no problems (Mass. CORI plus credit check).

How to Apply

  • Please submit a cover letter and resume in good old fashioned ***** plain text *****.
  • Attachments are automatically discarded for security reasons.
  • HTML email will probably get filtered out as junk.
  • NO OUTSOURCING ADS! We are proud to be an American company hiring and creating jobs IN AMERICA. We don't particularly care if you have 20 employees who can all do outstanding work for $2/hour.
