“Since legislation that would end the bank-based student-loan system and move all federal loans to the federal government’s direct-loan program was first proposed, in July, students have gone to Washington to voice their support, sponsored by organizations like Campus Progress and U.S. Public Interest Research Groups,” The Chronicle of Higher Education reports. “One of those students was Blayne Sapelli, a senior majoring in political science at the University of Connecticut, who helped lobby for the bill’s passage.”
