Budget Battles Ahead As Oct. 1 Deadline Nears
The House on Friday passed a $986 billion short-term fiscal year (FY) 2014 continuing resolution (CR) to fund the federal government through December 15. The CR, a stop-gap funding mechanism, was largely ideological in nature and passed by a near party line vote of 230 to 189. The measure would fund the federal government at FY 13 post-sequester levels and would defund the healthcare law, more commonly referred to as “Obamacare.”
