CFPB Posts Questions for Public Comment on Private Student Loan Modifications
The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) announced Feb. 21 that the agency is collecting public input on new, more affordable payment options for private student loan borrowers. In addition to asking a number of open-ended questions about student borrowing and repayment, the Feb. 27 Federal Register notice proposes an expansion of loan modifications similar to those implemented during the mortgage crisis.
