My wife and I put most of our expenses and any big purchases on an Amazon credit card. I'm not trying to give them a commercial but we often get $25.00 and sometimes $100.00 in comps per month just for using the credit card. And we can buy almost everything that they sell using the gift certificates we get in the mail. We don't keep a balance on the card, so it's essentially free money/products. And we get spending money for spending money we would spend anyway. : )

Well aside from working two jobs, I've found that if you only hang out once every two weeks, your buddies are much more likely to buy your booze. Remember, familiarity breeds contempt.

My "beer money" (for me- "gear money") comes from consulting, side projects, tutoring twice a week at the Middle School- money that my family doesn't depend on, and I can plow easily back into this social media venture. It pays for gear, conferences, and the like. Some small sums from Amazon affiliates..... I keep my new business operating on a budget neutral to budget positive basis, no credit required, and it paid for small xmas presents to internet collegues, so I am happy.
