Competition Among Highly Qualified Servicers The Best Way To Improve Performance For Borrowers, ED Says In Letter To Committees

The Department of Education (ED) has developed a multi-year plan to streamline metrics by which Not-for-Profit (NFP) student loan servicers and Title IV Additional Servicers (TIVAS) are measured, according to a March 31 letter from ED Budget Service Director Thomas Skelly obtained by NASFAA. Skelly wrote that ED “strongly believe[s] that competition among a small group of experienced, highly qualified servicers … is the best way to drive improved performance for borrowers and value for taxpayers.”
