House and Senate Conferees Reach Agreement on Education Appropriations Bill

The conferees of the Senate and the House of Representatives met yesterday to approve the FY 2010 Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education spending bill. Under the Congressional agreement, the total maximum Pell Grant would be $5,550 for the 2010-11 award year. The TRIO programs and GEAR UP programs would see increases – $5 million and $10 million respectively – over 2009 levels under the spending bill.
