Looking Ahead: Congress Faces Several Budget Deadlines
As much of the country slowly makes its way out of the so-called “polar vortex,” legislators in Washington, D.C., are gearing up for a series of budget battles and negotiations, many of which could impact federal financial aid programs. First up are negotiations for an omnibus appropriations bill, which will, in part, determine how to distribute funds from the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2013 that Congress passed last month. The budget deal will likely ensure that no further cuts will be made to the student aid programs.
