“Democratic Gov. Deval Patrick on Monday announced that some children of illegal immigrants in Massachusetts will become eligible for in-state tuition at the state’s 29 public universities and community colleges, based on an interpretation of a new federal law. The state policy covers individuals that have received “deferred action” status under a federal law implemented this summer, which gives those who immigrated illegally as children, do not represent a public safety threat and meet certain conditions work visas and immunity from deportation for two years,” The Boston Globe reports.
