NASFAA Seeks Legislation to Reinstate In-School Consolidation

9 December 2009 27 views No Comment

NASFAA sent a letter to House and Senate education leaders yesterday seeking legislation that would allow student loan borrowers to consolidate into the Direct Loan program while they are in school and retain their in-school status and grace period. NASFAA members have expressed concern that recent changes in the federal student loan programs have created confusion for students and families about where to send loan payments. Allowing in-school consolidation allows financial aid administrators to assist, counsel, and support borrowers while they are still on campus.
