Pell Grant Protection Act Calls For Summer Education Funding

“Amid 2011 budget cuts, Congress decided to withdraw year-round Pell Grants, leaving about 1 million students to find an alternative way to finance their summer education. In April, a handful of U.S. senators and representatives announced they’re trying to bring the grants back,” USA Today reports. Karen McCarthy, senior policy analyst for the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA), “says NASFAA is excited about its possibilities. ‘There’s no downside to it from the student perspective.’”
