Wisconsin: Doyle Unveils Financial Aid Possibilities for Covenant Students (Milwaukee Public Radio)

2 March 2010 30 views No Comment

“The Wisconsin Covenant program began in January of 2006. Under it, students entering high school promise not only to maintain a ‘B’ average, but also to take college prep courses and be good citizens. Gov. Jim Doyle says the program has received an overwhelming response,” Milwaukee Public Radio reports. “At a news conference Monday at UW-Milwaukee, Doyle spoke most directly to the first group of students who took the pledge. They are now juniors, and many have begun considering where they’ll go to college after graduation. The governor spelled out what the state will do for the students who keep their promise. ‘Students with the greatest financial need will receive, and this is in addition to all the other state and federal aid that they will otherwise receive, they will receive $2,500 to help cover the cost of tuition,’ Doyle says.”
