Know your Stafford loans

Stafford loans have gotten a lot of attention in the past couple of months because of their impending interest rate increase. It’s down to the wire as we approach the July 1 deadline for Congress to lower rates. Without last-minute action from the government, Stafford Loan interest rates will double to 6.8% for loans disbursed July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2013. If you haven’t applied for your Stafford loan yet, don’t forget to file your FAFSA ! If you’ve already filed and need to edit information for any reason, make sure to file a FAFSA correction.
