A special back to school announcement
On September 1, the Financial Aid Podcast will become a weekly show, as opposed to a daily show.
Why?
We’re at a critical time in our economy, in our education system, in our society as a whole. Politics and other transient issues aside, there’s a greater need now than ever before for research & development, for more tools, better financial literacy tools, for more advanced ways of helping students pay for a college education in a way that’s sustainable and affordable. Over the past 3 years, I’ve been able to develop a lot of materials based on the work we’ve done in the Financial Aid Podcast, but we need to step things up. The recent loan crisis demonstrates that even our new media efforts are still not enough by themselves to boost affordability and awareness. There will still be daily blog posts and reading for you that will cut to the heart of daily news items and explain why it’s important to you for paying for college, but there’s more work to be done.
Certainly, the Financial Aid Podcast has helped, and will continue to help with a more concentrated show, combining all the familiar segments you’ve come to enjoy, but there’s more work to be done in advocacy, in outreach, in awareness. The conversion of the show to a weekly format will free up time for me to begin assembling more on-the-road presentations for high school financial aid nights, community programs like College Goal Sunday, and enhance our mainstream media operations to integrate old and new media together. It will also allow me to produce more media, more specialized projects like our upcoming 2009 FAFSA tutorials, which will be unlike anything you’ve ever seen in financial aid before.
Mark your calendars for back to school, and on September 1, the Financial Aid Podcast will become the most intense 30 minute personal finance show you can get on your iPod, computer, or listening environment of your choice. Tell a friend today to get ready to go back to school with the Financial Aid Podcast 2.0!
